Globe And Mail's - This week's question

Subject: This week's question

Since you are now management, the secret kept from management is no longer a secret kept from the management.

Fire the person. Lock down their access to all company documents, servers, files, and information.

Advise the upper management that they should make an application in court to force the former colleague to turn over all company information, documents and files they may have in their possession.

You should then be prepared to tell the upper management why they made the right decision to promote you, when you obviously withheld information from them that can directly affect the companies business.

If I were them, you would be the next person to be fired, and have their access to all company documents, servers, files, and information locked down. You obviously have no loyalty to the company and cannot be trusted to act in the best interest of the people who sign your pay check. You can not be trusted.

Thank you
