RE: Selection of Committee Members

Sue:

Tell me then. Why does the city publish the names and addresses of anyone who is nominated to run in the civic election?

How can you do that, and not think that doing the same for people who want to sit on boards, agencies, and committees of the city that spend or over see the spending of taxpayers money, should not be treated the same?

Yes I know FOIP restricts you from using information in a way that was not made clear before it was collected. That can be rectified. Don't hide behind FOIP when this issue really a political will issue.

Make it known that the process will be held in the open.

A change can be made. How are the people who are chosen going to keep their names out of the public eye?

This is not a legal issue with the city, it is a political will issue that can be rectified easily. It is done in the matters of people making applications to the planning and development boards, or even before city council.

What is there to hide?
